COVID-19 – nkd ( ) Business Updates

Monday 23rd March 2020 (update)

We are sad to announce that we’ve taken the decision to temporarily close both nkd salons and to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

If you have a future appointment booked with us, please be assured that we will of course keep this appointment on your file and will honour it when we are allowed to re-open and resume trading as normal. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to issue any refunds so all credit will remain on your account for use at a future time.

We will issue further updates via this website and via email when appropriate.
We wish all our valued clients all the very best. We thank you for your patience, understanding and goodwill during this difficult time and we remain hopeful that we will be able to see a lot of you again in the not too distant future.
In the meantime, please take care and stay well. Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
To receive future updates by email, make sure that you are on our mailing list and that you add nkd to your safe senders list.
If you think you are already on our mailing list and should already be receiving email updates, but haven’t received them, please check your junk and clutter folders to make sure that you continue to receive all important updates from us.

Saturday 21st March 2020 (update)

nkd is still open for business and is still welcoming all clients who are fit and well.

On Friday 20th March, the Government announced that certain businesses and other venues must close as soon as they reasonably could. The list of businesses that this affects includes “Spas, wellness centres and massage parlours”.

nkd ( ) does not believe that it falls into this category.

The National Hair and Beauty Federation (NHBF) has released the following statement:

The government has updated its website which now includes “spas, wellness centres and massage parlours” on the list of businesses which must close. We are seeking urgent clarification from the government about whether this applied to hair salons, beauty salons and barbershops. However, we will not get definite information from the government until Monday.

Unfortunately, this means that decisions about whether or not to close must still be made by salons and barbershops. We understand how difficult this is but in the absence of definite instructions from the government, this is where we currently stand.

If you have a treatment booked in and cannot come or don’t want to come (either because you are ill/you are self-isolating, or because of social distancing reasons) then please tell us (with as much notice as possible) and we will keep your appointment on file for when you are ready to book back in and use it.

But PLEASE don’t just NOT show up and NOT call or email us in advance!

For appointment rescheduling requests, you can either call or email us (as always, we request that you do not try and cancel or reschedule via social media channels as this can be tricky for us to keep on top of and manage):

Monday 16th March 2020 (update)

nkd is still open for business and is still welcoming all clients who are fit and well. In line with the NHS 111 service’s own change in policy, we are now asking all customers the following single question:

Do you have either:

  •  A high temperature or fever?
  • A new continuous cough?

If the answer is yes to either question, we are happy to cancel your appointment and put it on file for use in the future.

Friday 13th March 2020

With COVID-19 developments unveiling rapidly in the UK right now, we want to reassure our customers of our commitment to adhere to the advice and protocols advised by the World Health Organisation and local and international authorities.

The well-being of our staff and customers is our utmost priority. With this in mind, we are asking all our customers with appointments to tell us immediately if they answer yes to any of the following three questions:

1. Have you visited or returned from any known global COVID-19“hotspots” in the last 14 days?

This includes but is not necessarily limited to:

  • Wuhan, China/Hubei Province, China
  • Qom, Iran
  • Daegu, South Korea
  • Lombardy region, Italy

2. Have you knowingly been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with Coronavirus?

3. Do you have either:

  •  A high temperature or fever?
  • A new continuous cough?

We are asking the same questions of our staff.

We are measuring the temperatures of our staff before every shift.

Staff are not being required to wear face masks while treating clients but are allowed to do so on either the client or staff member’s request, for their own peace of mind (supply of face masks permitting).

Salon hygiene and cleanliness levels have been stepped up accordingly.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
